This past weekend I went to The Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, in Orlando Florida. It was the 15th year anniversary so they had a lot of awesome things.
Every country had its own stand where you can sample the foods and specialty beverages of the country. As you first walk in you start immediately with Chile, Brazil and Puerto Rico.
We started and sampled Brazil. Brazil had an amazing shrimp stew with coconut and lime and we started the day with their Leblon Frozen Caipirinha. Definitely a ‘girly’ drink because it is nice and sweet and doesn’t taste like any alcohol.
Next we had a few margaritas. They were perfect for a Florida ‘fall’ day. Needless to say, it definitely cooled us off.
We stopped at majority of the countries, however, there are certain ones that stick out in my mind…
South Korea was by far the favorite of the day. We had Barbecue Short Rib with Steamed Rice and Cucumber Kimchi. It was a sweet short rib that was so juicy and tender.
The majority of wines I had were red. The chianti in Italy was great. Surprisingly the America section mostly had Samuel Adams beers and only a few wine options. I tried some of their beers, which were good. But beer isn’t my favorite. They had Sutter Home merlot, chardonnay and pinot grigio. For those merlot lovers, Sagelands Vineyard merlot is a full bodied red wine. It would be great if you are eating pork or lamb. It had a very strong finish.
We of course ate some food in America – a turkey leg (which might as well be an ostrich leg it was so huge!) and a cream cheese filled pretzel! Very delicious!
Dinner was a buffet in Germany and was not a fan. Of course we are in Disney so you expect everything to be over priced, however, for what you are getting it’s not worth it. The ambiance was great though. There was a stage with performers.
Has anyone else been to the Food and Wine Festival? If so, share your thoughts!
Be sure to check it out, the wine and food festival ends November 14th.
